SV Family YMCA is dedicated to strengthening our community and helping children and families to thrive. Funds raised from 5% Day will go toward providing services to those who cannot otherwise afford them, such as child and after school care, chronic disease support and prevention, teen programs, swim lessons, youth sports, day camps, health and wellness programs, and membership. Volunteer as a Homework Club Coordinator

Flex your leadership skills by becoming a Library Homework Club Coordinator!  Homework Clubs provide after-school assistance for K-8 children free of charge.  San Jose Public Library is looking for experienced, dedicated community members to help coordinate these new clubs.  Homework Club Coordinators will occupy a key leadership position to help recruit, train, and schedule other volunteers.  Learn more

Our City Forest

Our City Forest (OCF), Silicon Valley’s environmental non-profit leader, is recruiting now for full-time interns for a large-scale water conservation initiative involving lawn conversions and community tree plantings.  Internships provide full-time community service opportunities and excellent professional skills training. Partnering with the national AmeriCorps program, full-time interns receive a $16,000 stipend and $5,730 education award.  Applications are being accepted now, and interviews are underway for positions beginning September 15.  Apply online, or send a resume and cover letter via email to lomalley@ourcityforest.org.  


Host a Neighborhood Watch Meeting

The San Jose Police Department's Neighborhood Watch program focuses on informing the community how to discourage, deter and prevent crimes such as burglary, auto theft, car break-ins, and personal crimes.  Issues such as vandalism, graffiti, drug dealing and gang activity are also addressed when applicable.
