Electrification of Caltrain Comments

An electrified Caltrain would be faster, quieter, cheaper, and more efficient to operate. Performing an environmental review of the project is an important milestone toward making it happen.

Caltrain has already engaged in extensive outreach on the modernization and electrification program, meeting with community groups and elected officials for the past several months.

Caltrain will begin operating electrified service by 2019. The environmental impact report for Caltrain electrification and modernization does not include High Speed Rail service, which will be subject to a separate environmental review.

Caltrain will be accepting comments on the electrification scoping process until 5:00PM on March 18, 2013. Comments can be emailed to electrification@caltrain.com. Please include "Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project" in the subject line.

For more information, please view the Electrification Notice of Preparation.
