Dear Neighbor,

I am excited to announce that the First Annual Cambrian Schools Fun Run will take place Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 8:00 AM!

The Cambrian Schools Fun Run is an official City-sponsored event, co-hosted by myself and the Cambrian School District, and was created to bring the community together, celebrate the power of wellness and an active lifestyle, and support our public schools – with a little healthy competition and big dose of fun.

Participants will run or walk from the new Steindorf STEAM K-8 School, which will have opened its doors for the very first time just days before, to Price Middle School and back again for a total distance of 5 kilometers.

Prizes will be awarded for the best times in both the Adult and Youth age groups, but the spirit of the day is relaxed – attendees are free to run, walk, skip, or dance the course, or even make a pit stop in the lovely Doerr Park. Strollers are welcome and the route is wheelchair accessible.

After completing the route, participants will find a community wellness fair waiting for them back at the finish line. This is an excellent chance to connect with community health resources, find a new after-school activity for the kids, and enjoy a variety of games and entertainment.

All residents are welcome whether or not you have a child attending a Cambrian school, or live in the neighborhood.  Registration is $30 for general admission, $20 for youth for 14 and under, and $10 for children 4 and under. You can register online at http://bit.ly/cambrian5k, and learn more about the event on the official website or Facebook page.

I hope you will join me for this fun, inaugural event!  Should you have any questions regarding the Cambrian Schools Fun Run, or any City-related issue or concern, please reach out to my office at District9@sanjoseca.gov or (408) 535-4909.

Sincerely,
