Dear Neighbor,

As many of you may already know, Weingarten Realty is the new owner of the Cambrian Park Plaza Shopping Center in District 9.  The 17-acre plaza, which was purchased last year, serves over 180,000 people from across San Jose, Los Gatos and Campbell.  After months of study following consultation with community and city stakeholders, Weingarten filed a preliminary review application with the City's Planning Department asking for feedback on its plan to redevelop the site.

Weingarten has established a website to provide information about the ongoing planning process, preliminary review application, and redevelopment plan.  The Weingarten Team is looking to obtain the community's feedback to help inform next steps of the planning process through an online survey, and has asked me to share the survey with you in my newsletter.

If you live in the Cambrian Park Plaza area or you visit or shop at the center, then please take a moment to fill out Weingarten's survey, and if possible, share this with your neighbors.  This is an important opportunity for you to share your honest input about which aspects of this future space are most important to you and what concerns you may have about the redevelopment.

Online Survey: http://cambrianparkplazashoppingcenter.com/survey/

Weingarten's Website: http://cambrianparkplazashoppingcenter.com/

There has been a lot of interest in the future of this shopping center since Weingarten became its new owner.  Just recently in September, the Plaza's carousel sign was deemed an official historic landmark after the community came out to support this action under the leadership of County Supervisor Ken Yeager.  I thank the community for its continued engagement and feedback on the future of Cambrian Park Plaza thus far and invite you to stay connected and informed throughout the process.

I will continue to keep you apprised of any updates on the project as they are made available to me.  You should also feel welcomed to share your direct feedback with Weingarten via email at cambrian@weingarten.com.

As always, you can reach my office at (408) 535-4909 or district9@sanjoseca.gov.  However, please note that City of San Jose offices will be closed Friday, December 23 through Monday, January 2.  As we wrap up the year here at City Hall, my staff and I wish you a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year.

With warm regards,

Donald Rocha
Councilmember, District 9
