    Appeals Hearing Board Recruitment

The Office of the City Clerk is currently recruiting for two vacancies on the Appeals Hearing Board until Friday, October 26, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. for terms ending December 31, 2016.  Applicants to this Commission must have been both citizens of the United States and residents of the City of San José for one year preceding appointment, and additionally must be registered voters in the City of San José at the time of appointment.

Tax Volunteers Needed! 

Tax Help

Catholic Charities is recruiting Tax Volunteers for the 2013 tax filing season.
Tax Volunteers will be trained with Tax Law and TaxWise (a software used to prepare tax returns) this coming November-December 2012 at 2625 Zanker Rd, 95134.

There will be two volunteer orientation sessions on October 29 and 31, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, you only need to attend one.

Civil Service Commission Accepting Applications

The San José Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for appointments to the City Council Salary Setting Commission until 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012. 

The Council Salary Setting Commission recommends to the City Council the amount of monthly salary which it deems appropriate for members of the City Council, including the Mayor, as provided in the City Charter.  The City Council adopts the salaries as recommended by the Commission, or adopts a lesser amount.  The Salary Setting Commission makes salary recommendations in odd-numbered years.  The Commission will develop its recommendations at twice-monthly meetings to be held from January through April, 2013.

Currently, there is one vacancy on the Commission for a term beginning January 1, 2013 and expiring December 31, 2016.  Applicants must be a registered voter in the City of San José and if appointed, must remain so throughout the term of office.

Copies of all applications received will be submitted to the Civil Service Commission for review and appointment.  Applicants may be interviewed by the Civil Service Commission at a public meeting.

Applications may be obtained from the Office of the City Clerk, 200 E. Santa Clara St., 95113.
